- Bartholin Duct
- Tiny tubes on either side of your vagina that secrete lubrication when you become sexually aroused.
- Bidet
- French-style cleansing basin for your genital area and vagina found in fancy hotels in Paris.
- Brazilian
- Introduced to America by a band of Brazilian sisters in 1987, this hair removal technique consists of waxing off all the pubic hair in a woman’s vaginal area, front and back. Note: Only for those with a high pain tolerance.
- Candidiasis (AKA thrush)
- We’ll be real candid here. It’s a fancy term for a yeast infection.
- Chadwick’s Sign
- When your vaginal area turns a pretty blue-violet color during the early stages of pregnancy. It’s a sign, all right – that you’re pregnant.
- Clitoris
- Its only purpose is to serve your sexual needs.
- Crowning
- When a baby’s head starts to make an appearance during vaginal childbirth, leading to some burning or stinging referred to as “the ring of fire.”
- Douche
- A device used to cleanse the vagina. The word “douche” means “wash” in French. Oo la la!
- Episiotomy
- A surgical incision during vaginal birth to allow room for the baby to make his/her entrance into the world.
Hellllo, baby!
- Estrogen
- The primary female sex hormone (i.e., women’s mojo).
- Female Condom
- How to take safety into your own hands. Designed for a woman, this larger condom is inserted into the vagina and is equally as effective at preventing pregnancy and STDs as male condoms.
- Feminine
Deodorant Spray
- Used on the part of a woman’s body that has more sweat glands than armpits.

- The term used for “women-only” feminine cleansing and care products. Term will usually elicit blushing
from men.
- Feminine Itching
(AKA vaginal itching)
- Vaginal itching could be a sign of a bacterial or yeast infection. If itching persists, see your doctor. And try
not to scratch – it could make the
problem worse.
- Feminine Odor
(AKA vaginal odor)
- A mild vaginal smell is perfectly natural – every woman has her own scent.
But if your “natural” gets a little funky
(some describe it as “fishy”), it’s time
to see your doctor. It could be a sign
of an infection.
- G-Spot
- Magical, mystical vaginal pleasure point most men never find.
- Hypoallergenic
- A classification for products that are likely to cause fewer allergic reactions. Good news for people with sensitive skin. Like women, who have sensitive skin surrounding their vaginas.
- Kegel
- Vaginal crunches to heighten sensitivity, build pelvic muscle strength, help reduce urinary incontinence and wow your partner during sex.
- Leukorrhea
- The milky stuff you may notice in your underwear during the first trimester of pregnancy. A little annoying, but nothing to worry about.
- Menopause
- Literally, the “end of monthly cycles,” or the end of fertility in women. And the beginning of hot flashes.
- Mucous Plug
- Keeps bacteria out of baby’s reach while in the uterus. Toward the end of pregnancy, it comes out and signals the start of labor.
- Orgasm
- There are two types: clitoral and vaginal. Female orgasms last approximately
20 seconds.

- Ovulation
- The production and release of eggs from the ovary and the trip down the fallopian tubes to be fertilized. Otherwise known as “baby-making time.”
- Pap Smear
- Once a year, get this test for cervical cancer. We’re not going to tell you twice.
- pH-Balanced
- Technically speaking, “pH” stands for “potential of hydrogen.” A pH level is the balance of the acid and alkaline levels of a particular solution. A healthy vagina is naturally acidic, which helps keep “good” bacteria around to ward off infections. So a pH-balanced product will work with your body’s natural chemistry to keep the acidic pH levels where they should be. Chemistry lesson over.

- Vaginal Prolapse
- Like a vaginal “outy.” It usually happens when the pelvic floor collapses as a result of childbirth.

- Vaginal Rejuvenation
- Surgery that tightens your vaginal muscles, often after vaginal birth, to get your vagina back to its youthful shape. May include restoring the hymen. Some agree with it, some don’t, but it
does exist.
- Vaginitis
- What it sounds like: an inflammation of the vagina, caused by yeast or bacteria. Totally treatable.
- Varicosities
- Tiny spider (varicose) veins that can appear on your vulva during pregnancy.
- Yoni
- Feminine version of the phallus,
and far cooler.
